HELPFUL TIP:

How your character makes a living is an important decision. After all, there’s probably a good reason why they chose this career. Think about how they pull on certain talents and skills, have positive or negative traits, and adhere to a specific work ethic to excel. Sometimes characters choose an occupation because of how they were raised, something they experienced, or even an emotional wound, so consider how all of these things will show readers who they are deep down, and why they do what they do.
OVERVIEW:
Graphic designers create physical or digital concepts to inform, inspire, and attract potential customers. They aim to make their clients memorable and prominent through the use of carefully selected layouts, fonts, colors, shapes, animation, logos, and other design elements. Their projects may include brochures, websites, packaging, social media material, advertisements, book covers, magazines, and more.

While some are employed by design agencies, others work in-house for a company or freelance on their own. A graphic designer going solo will also need to be versed in business practices and know how to market themselves to bring in sales.

NECESSARY TRAINING:
A four-year degree in graphic design or a related field is typically necessary. Ongoing training in the field is expected for the designer to stay current with software, trends, and new marketing media.
