HELPFUL TIP:

One trick to writing fresh emotional responses is to focus on different parts of the body. Think carefully about the character’s exact emotions in the scene and how the body might shift or move in response. Vividly describing the colors, shapes, or textures in the character's environment can also bring the scene to life for readers.

EMOTIONS AND RELATED GESTURES:
  • pride">pride and Satisfaction: Many men view facial hair as a sign of manliness. The thickness of one’s beard or the overall even stubble is a source of pride">pride among males. Men can often be seen touching, pulling, tweaking, rubbing, stroking, and smoothing their facial hair.
  • Embarrassment: Most women are not fans of their own facial hair and they will eradicate the unacceptable kind with tweezing, waxing, or shaving. Men who feel unsuccessful at growing hair (because it's patchy and thin or is otherwise unflattering) may simply choose to shave.
  • Attraction: Some women find facial hair appealing and are drawn to a man who can grow a strong beard or mustache. Stubble is also a trend that has gained a lot of traction. However, with facial hair should come some sensibility and grooming practices. Gone are the days of waxed and curled mustaches, and no one likes to see lunch remains stuck in someone’s beard.
