HELPFUL TIP:

Emotional wounds will steer a character's behavior, corrupt his worldview, and cause negative traits to form. To understand exactly how this occurs, please read our tutorial for the Wound Thesaurus.

NOTE: We realize that sometimes a wound we profile may have personal meaning, stirring up the past for some of our readers. It is not our intent to create emotional turmoil. Please know that we research each wounding topic carefully to treat it with the utmost respect.
EXAMPLES:
Due to a medical condition (endometriosis, uterine abnormalities, ovulation disorders, etc.)
Following an early hysterectomy
Because of a botched abortion
As a result of cancer and cancer treatments
From complications associated with a sexually transmitted disease (STD)
Because of early-onset menopause
Due to a low sperm count
Based on unknown factors

LIES THAT MAY DEVELOP FOR CHARACTERS WITH THIS WOUND:
They're less of a man or woman because of this
They shouldn't get involved with anyone because they're defective
This is a punishment for something they've done
There must be a reason why they can't have kids
God knows they would be a bad parent, and that's why they can't have children
People will pity them if they find out, so it's better to pretend they don't want kids
Without children, they'll never be complete or fulfilled
They're going to grow old and die alone, with no one to care for them
It's stupid to take care of yourself since things like this are going to happen anyway
