HELPFUL TIP:

Emotional wounds will steer a character's behavior, corrupt his worldview, and cause negative traits to form. To understand exactly how this occurs, please read our tutorial for the Wound Thesaurus.

NOTE: We realize that sometimes a wound we profile may have personal meaning, stirring up the past for some of our readers. It is not our intent to create emotional turmoil. Please know that we research each wounding topic carefully to treat it with the utmost respect.
NOTES:
The impact of this wound will have many factors, such as if this is the character's first loss, at what point in the pregnancy it happened, the spiritual beliefs of the parents, the level of support around them, and the circumstances (if any) that led to losing the baby. It should also be noted that this can become a wounding event for both parents, not just the mother. Everyone reacts differently to a wound of this kind, and one factor can be the timing of the death, so consider the following examples carefully.

EXAMPLES:
A baby dying in the womb early in a pregnancy
A miscarriage later, in the second or third trimester
An infant dying during the delivery
An unexpected stillbirth

LIES THAT MAY DEVELOP FOR CHARACTERS WITH THIS WOUND:
This is their punishment for a past transgression (or a known weakness, etc.)
They did something wrong during my pregnancy that killed their child
There must be a reason they're not supposed to have kids
Subconsciously, they caused this by regretting the pregnancy (or wishing the baby away, etc.)
When something good comes along, it will just be taken away from them
It's better to be childless than to risk this kind of pain again
