HELPFUL TIP:

Settings should always be chosen with care. Consider the emotion you want your viewpoint character to feel and how setting choices, weather elements, and symbolism might build a specific mood in the scene, create tension and conflict, or even raise the stakes.
SIGHTS:
The judge's desk, stacked with files and paperwork and holding the usual office equipment (computer, phone, notepads, pens, etc.)
A small sidebar containing beverage service (coffee, tea, brandy, etc.)
Diplomas and certificates on the walls
Decor that reflects the judge's personality or hobbies (mahogany furniture, pricey artwork on the walls, hunting trophies, travel memorabilia, antiques, etc.)
Flags in stands flanking the desk
A briefcase on the floor with papers poking out of it
An umbrella stand
Plush carpets, decorative rugs, or hardwood floors
Robes hanging on a coat rack or on the back of the door
Potted plants
Multiple bookcases lining the wall that are filled with books, journals, knickknacks, pictures with family and famous people, awards, and other personal items
Leather chairs for guests facing the desk, or a seating area (containing couches, lamps, end tables, and a coffee table with books, notepads, and pens on it)
A conference area (a table and chairs) for larger meetings
A private bathroom
Attorneys discussing case-specific information with the judge
A secretary delivering phone messages or reminding the judge about an appointment
Clerks debating points of law with the judge
