HELPFUL TIP:

Settings should always be chosen with care. Consider the emotion you want your viewpoint character to feel and how setting choices, weather elements, and symbolism might build a specific mood in the scene, create tension and conflict, or even raise the stakes.
SIGHTS:
Posters on the walls (of sport icons and rock bands or displaying humorous or motivational sayings)
A small window with empty drink cans lining the ledge
A set of narrow beds with bedding choices that reflect the owners' personalities (frilly, plain, sports-themed, homey, dramatic, colorful, playful)
Two small desk areas crowded with materials (a laptop and printer, a phone charger, a music docking station, textbooks, papers, a box of tissues, a small fan, a sharpener, pens and pencils)
A jam-packed closet (clothing on hangers, shoes on a shoe rack, a milk crate holding snacks and drinks, a case of water bottles or pop cans, cleaning products, extra personal care items, towels, etc.)
A small microwave and fridge
A bowl full of condiment packets (sugar, salt and pepper, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce)
A collage of items pinned to a corkboard (pictures, cards from home, class schedules, famous quotes, concert or movie tickets)
A nightstand with an alarm clock and lamp
A metal folding chair for guests
A trash can
A chest of drawers
Coats or hoodies hanging off of door hooks
Storage bins that double as an ottoman or table
A coffee maker and mugs
A small shared bathroom
A duffle bag full of sports equipment shoved under the bed
Sacks or piles of dirty laundry
