HELPFUL TIP:

A deeply embedded fear often stems from trauma, so it can be helpful to explore emotional wounds that may be a factor. Your character might also become risk-averse, which can create problems in their relationships and limit their fulfillment. And for a character to achieve their story goal, they must overcome any fear-based thinking that's holding them back. The Character Builder is a great resource for pulling all these factors together.
NOTES:
Stillness and quiet are important practices that provide the chance for recovery, self-reflection, intimacy in relationships, and emotional processing. But for some, this is the last thing they want. A character who is afraid of their own thoughts, of being unproductive or “lazy,” or of facing a past, present, or future event may do everything in their power to stay busy, letting the joys of life pass them by.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE:
Juggling multiple tasks at the same time
Being easily distracted by new ideas and opportunities
Workaholic tendencies
Perfectionism
Frequenting busy places (the mall, urban areas, restaurants, etc.)
Stacking their schedule with back-to-back commitments
Sleeping less than other people
Fulfilling obligations even when the character is sick or needed elsewhere
Being in constant motion
Avoiding being alone
Jumping into a new relationship when an old one ends
Difficulty falling asleep (because their brain won't turn off or they're afraid of certain thoughts)
Being unable to relax
Filling free time with mindless activities (scrolling on their phone, watching TV, etc.)
Drinking a lot of coffee or energy drinks
