HELPFUL TIP:

Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.

EXAMPLES:
A jury member or lawyer in a high-profile case being stalked by the family of the guilty party
Being targeted by the mob for not complying with their demands
An attempted assassination of a politician because of their beliefs or political platform
The character's life being destroyed by someone they hurt as a child
An athlete being attacked by a competitor they defeated
A student keying a teacher's car because of the grade they received
A police officer's family being targeted for the part he or she played in the killing of a suspect
An inmate being assaulted in prison because of the crime they committed (child abuse, kidnapping, etc.)
A lover purposely giving their partner an STD because the person cheated on them
A popular girl being targeted by a vindictive student wanting to take her down a peg
A victim of bullying targeting their harasser by staging an event to humiliate them 
Speaking out against a bully and the abuser retaliating with increased mistreatment

MINOR COMPLICATIONS:
Not knowing when the attack will occur or what form it will take
Having to postpone events or outings
Time lost to worry and safeguarding practices
Limiting activities or movement that could leave them or their family exposed
The character having to change their schedule to avoid predictability
The character having to explain to their children what's going on
Friends and associates not wanting to be around the character because of the safety risk
The character's children chafing against increased rules and restrictions
Other people believing that the character is overreacting
Lodging a complaint, reporting a threat, or filing a restraining order
The character reading unpleasant things being said about them online
Assuming, at first, that no harm was intended (if the revenge was deliberately subtle or covert)
The character having to prove their innocence (if false accusations are involved)
The character having to meet with lawyers, police officers, and other fact-checkers
