HELPFUL TIP:

Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.

An offer to take over a difficult situation the character is struggling with
A powerful connection offering to pay someone off and make the sticky situation go away
A friend being willing to lie so the character can escape repercussions
An inside man offering to fast-track a process or application
Being offered a position because of a connection, not because the character earned it
Knowing someone who can call in a favor to ensure evidence gets "lost"
An inside man offering to alter records to get one the character of trouble
A chance to retake a test after a poor performance
Being offered a solution in exchange for a favor down the road
Being offered a bribe or donation to look the other way after the character witnesses something they shouldn't have seen
