HELPFUL TIP:

Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.
CATEGORY:
Increased pressure and ticking clocks, moral dilemmas and temptations, loss of control, power struggles

EXAMPLES:
The character being pursued by police or other law enforcement agencies
Someone in a position of authority putting a bounty out on the character
Becoming a target for a serial killer or stalker
Being hunted by a dangerous individual because of what the character knows or has seen
Being trapped in a closed environment (an island, spaceship, or scientific research facility) where a predatory creature is on the loose
Being literally hunted by others as part of a demented sporting activity

MINOR COMPLICATIONS:
Suffering from anxiety or stress, which may cause impulsive decision making
The character not knowing they're being hunted and doing things that make them easier to track (using credit cards, checking in on social media, telling friends where they will be, etc.)
Time wasted trying to find one's way out
The character having to rely on others for help
Conflict with friends or loved ones who withhold help
Having to make decisions quickly and those decisions compounding the problem
Having to lie (and keep track of those lies)
Dealing with minor inconveniences (having to sleep in a car, being short on cash, etc.)
Being innocent, yet having to commit crimes to evade capture and secure what one needs (stealing food, breaking into an unoccupied home to have a safe place to sleep, etc.)
Sustaining a minor injury while evading capture (pulling a muscle, spraining an ankle, etc.)
