Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.

Loss of control, power struggles, ego-related conflict, relationship friction, failures and mistakes, moral dilemmas and temptations, losing an advantage

EXAMPLES:
The character being taken into custody by law enforcement (local, state, Federal, customs and border protection, etc.)
A private citizen accosting the character and turning them over to law enforcement

MINOR COMPLICATIONS:
Not being able to get in touch with a lawyer or family members right away
Embarrassment or humiliation arising from a public arrest
Being intoxicated during the arrest
Being interrogated
The character's car being impounded
Becoming the subject of rumors and speculation
Relationship friction due to the arrest and its fallout

Going through substance withdrawal while imprisoned
