HELPFUL TIP:

Emotional wounds will steer a character's behavior, corrupt his worldview, and cause negative traits to form. To understand exactly how this occurs, please read our tutorial for the Wound Thesaurus.

NOTE: We realize that sometimes a wound we profile may have personal meaning, stirring up the past for some of our readers. It is not our intent to create emotional turmoil. Please know that we research each wounding topic carefully to treat it with the utmost respect.
NOTES:
The intensity of this wound will have several factors: the circumstances of the divorce, the personality, age, and adaptability of the character when the trauma took place (especially if during formative years), and the changes that result (a new financial reality, whether one must move or not, whether one lives mainly with one parent or equally with both, one's support structure, and the relationship one has with each parent moving forward).

There are short-term effects and long-term effects regarding divorce--this entry will highlight the impact this wound has on adult or near-adult characters, so encompassing more of the long-range impacts.
