HELPFUL TIP:

Settings should always be chosen with care. Consider the emotion you want your viewpoint character to feel and how setting choices, weather elements, and symbolism might build a specific mood in the scene, create tension and conflict, or even raise the stakes.
SIGHTS:
Trees and brush hemming a meandering flow of water
Uneven ground
Undergrowth (fallen trees covered in moss, bark fragments, dead leaves and pinecones tangled in the tall grass)
Forest trails made by animals visiting the water's edge
Grassy banks edging the shallow water
Rocks creating small islands in the stream
Water slipping over wet stones
Leaves and pine needle fragments drifting along the sun-dappled surface
Rippling water
Minnows and small fish flashing beneath the surface
A mottled bottom of green and brown (sand, rock, and algae)
Pebbles and gravel half-buried in the muddy creek bottom
The water coursing around reeds and grasses
Leeches, frogs, turtles, snakes, tadpoles and skimmers
Paw prints along the muddy bank
Drifting leaves and air bubbles floating lazily downstream
Exposed tree roots at the bank
Partially submerged twigs in the water
Animals (foxes, deer, rabbits, squirrels, raccoons) stopping to drink
Birds taking a bath in the water
